Bodysnatchers is a Sydney based theatre company, founded in 2011 by Sanja Simic and Mark Rogers. Their creative relationship and consequent works are centred on an argument about theatrical form. Bodysnatchers works with new writing to expand the possibilities of text-based theatre in Australia, making work that is contemporary, political and human.
From their initial productions of GOBBLEDYGOOK and DEBRIS at Fringe Festivals in 2011, Bodysnatchers were hailed as ‘the future of Australian theatre” by Arts Hub. In 2012 they staged Rogers’ first full-length play BLOOD PRESSURE at The Old Fitzroy Theatre in Darlinghurst, and his second play SOOTHSAYERS at the Brisbane Festival, both directed by Simic. Their acclaimed 2013 production, Kirby Medway’s ENCOUNTER, had its premiere in Sydney, followed by an award-winning run as part of the Adelaide Fringe in 2014, and a recent season in an updated version for La Mama Theatre in Melbourne, 2016.
